Since opening our doors in 2010, we've been proudly managed by Lisette Turpin Valentino, whose passion for New Orleans culture and hospitality is reflected in every corner of our store.

Located in the vibrant Basin St. Station, our physical shop features a charming streetcar facade, capturing the spirit of New Orleans’ famed historic streetcars. Basin St. Station itself is steeped in local heritage, originally serving as the Southern Railway Terminal freight office built in 1908, a time when the famous Storyville district enchanted visitors with music, entertainment, and a lively sense of adventure.

Lovingly restored by the Valentino Family in 2004, Basin St. Station now houses our vibrant gift shop on the first floor, alongside exhibits celebrating the storied history of New Orleans, including the impact of Hurricane Katrina and the Southern Railway Terminal's legacy. Above our welcoming visitor's center, you'll find The Brakeman Hotel—a unique boutique hotel honoring New Orleans' railway past—and Messina’s Rooftop on Basin, a picturesque event space with unmatched views of the historic St. Louis Cemetery #1 and the city beyond.
